Nigerian actor Bandele Adetolu Adebule, also known as Baaj Adebule, has cleared the air over comments he made in 2024 regarding his views on marrying a virgin.
The 36-year old actor had sparked reactions after saying that being a woman’s first sexual partner can be a difficult experience for men.
Speaking in a new interview with Nollywood on Radio monitored by Naijaonpoint, Adebule explained that his earlier words were misunderstood.
He said the discussion was centered on the topic of virginity and how society views it.
While he agreed that virginity is something good, he stressed that it should not be used to make others feel less worthy.
He shared that the conversation also touched on personal experiences.
Referring to his own past, Baaj explained how being someone’s first sexual partner affected him emotionally.
According to him, the experience was filled with discomfort and pain for the woman, which made it emotionally hard for him as well.
Baaj said his point was never to discourage or shame virgins but to explain that the process can be intense for both people involved.
He said: “We were talking about experiences and I spoke about my experience when I was still very young. The blood… because I really enjoy when the person I am doing it with is also enjoying it.
“In that experience, she does not get to enjoy it. It is just a lot of pain, a lot of crying and then there’s the blood. So that was what I was talking about, that it is not the most enjoyable experience when you have to be the one to disvirgin. Not that it is a bad thing.”
