The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has assured party members of his commitment to unify the ruling party across the country and expand its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday shortly after his confirmation, Nentawe declared, “I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party… I will expand the party with you.”

Yilwatda’s emergence followed a motion by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, zoning the party’s national chairmanship position to the North Central.

Uzodimma subsequently nominated Nentawe for ..., and the motion was seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Nentawe, a professor of engineering and former APC governorship candidate in Plateau State during the 2023 general elections, brings academic and administrative experience to his new role.

He previously served as Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State and ICT Director at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

In other news, APC has extended the tenure of its Ward, Local Government, and State Executive Committees until December 31, 2025.

The decision was made on Thursday at the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling party, held at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
