George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s candidate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election has expressed his optimism to emerge victorious at the off-season guber polls.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Moghalu noted that he is prepared to slug it out with other contestants, including the incumbent governor of Anambra, Chukwuma Soludo, at the November 8, governorship election in the state.
According to the LP gubernatorial candidate, the election is already a walkover for him and his party.
Moghalu said, “We are a very popular party and I am a popular person in Anambra State.
“We are doing what we are supposed to do. We are campaigning, reaching out, selling ourselves and our programme to the Anambra people.
“I can assure you comfortably that we are ready for the elections. Whatever we are expected to do we are going to do,” he stated.
Queried on strategies his party intends to adopt ahead of the Anambra gubernatorial elections, the LP candidate said the party and his supporters are focused on sustaining the campaigns until its deadline.
“We will sustain our campaigns until the 6th, 12 midnight when we are supposed to stop,” he added.
Recall that Moghalu had faced a slight challenge after a team of young people led by Ikenna Azomchine announced their support for Soludo.
The group, which claimed to be members of the Obidient Movement in Anambra said they were supporting Soludo because he has shown unprecedented capacity and has delivered good governance to the people of the state.
While the group’s claim caused outrage among the national leaders of the Obidient Movement, Peter Obi in a swift move reaffirmed his support for Moghalu.
Obi said that the Obidient Movement and the Labour Party are all about transforming lives and restoring faith in leadership.
He assured the people of Anambra of their “collective zeal and commitment to improving the quality of life in every community through better education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment, and job creation.”
