Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has played down concerns about former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, entering the race for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.

Naijaonpoint reports that she said that the move does not bother her and that she is open to contesting again if he joins the race.

Speaking through her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, she said, “We don’t see it as a threat. In fact, we are happy that he wants to contest. We are waiting for them.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan currently represents Kogi Central in the Senate, having won the seat in 2023 after a long legal process.

A lawyer and former gubernatorial hopeful, she became the first woman to serve as senator for the district.

Naijaonpoint understands that Bello recently expressed his interest during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious figures, and community leaders.

A video of the visit was later posted on his verified Facebook page last week.

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, was also at the gathering with other top political leaders.

Party figures and supporters at the event were said to have urged Bello to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027.
