Nigerian rapper, Jude Lemfani Abaga popularly known as MI Abaga has said he is not in any race with popular Afrobeats stars like Davido or Wizkid.

Naijaonpoint reports that the 43-year-old Plateau-born singer explained that he has carved out his own path and is contented with where he stands in the music industry.

Speaking in an interview, MI shared that although the industry has changed, he has stayed true to himself.

He said he respects the success of younger artistes but does not feel the need to match their lifestyle or trends.

The rapper reflected on how much the industry has evolved, especially in terms of money.

He said that luxury cars now go for over ₦100 million, but during his time, the same cars were much cheaper.

MI added that he prefers to spend money wisely, especially when there are real issues affecting people around him.

He said: “I’m not Davido. I’m not Wizkid. They are in the red-hot moment. But I am MI and has MI lost something? I don’t see it.

“The cars they’re buying now for 100 to 200 million, in our time, we bought them for 20 million. I live in Nigeria in real life where people need money. I’m not buying a 50 million naira ticket to America when I have staff with real issues.”

He also addressed his relationship with fellow rapper and brother Jesse Jagz.

He said whatever personal issues exist between them have nothing to do with music but are strictly family matters.
