Doris Ogala, Nollywood actress, says she is battling intense suicidal thoughts amid a deepening dispute with Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Ministry.
The actress said the fallout followed her claim that Okafor reneged on a long-standing promise of marriage and instead proposed to another woman.
Ogala alleged that the relationship started in 2017 and that she dissolved her former marriage at Okafor’s urging, believing his assurances of a shared future.
She stated that the alleged betrayal has left her psychologically and emotionally shattered, accusing the cleric of further violating her privacy by circulating explicit videos without her consent.
In a separate video shared on her Instagram page, Ogala expanded on the dispute, alleging financial manipulation, intimidation and sustained harassment.
She explained that a sermon clip of Okafor advising against marrying a “promiscuous woman”, which recently went viral, was not directed at her and dated back to 2023 when they were still in a relationship.
Ogala claimed she financially supported Okafor and his associates to secure a contract but said the funds were never fully returned.
“You might wake up tomorrow, and I will not be in this world again. I know the state of mind I am in right now. That video was made in 2023 when I was still dating Chris Okafor. That video is not referring to me. As a matter of fact, I was in the church when Chris made that video,” she said.
“… Chris contacted me to help him and his friends. And what did he pay me back with?”
The actress further alleged that Okafor orchestrated her arrest and detention in Abuja and later had her held at the Owerri CID for two days shortly before her brother’s burial.
“He arrested me. He detained me in Abuja. He also arrested me four days before my brother’s burial. And kept me in CID in Owerri for two days. For nothing. I did nothing,” she said.
“Because his friend gave me money, and he took the money. And I started asking for the money. He paid me so much and got me arrested for defamation. Chris has done a lot of things to me. I am not stable. I am suicidal. I am saying this from the bottom of my heart. It took me a lot to say all this.
“This person you are seeing here is suicidal. I am being very honest. I am devastated.”
However, Chris Okafor has yet to issue any public response to the allegations.
