THE Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II (ASI II) Okpravero Ufuoma for allegedly soliciting bribes from a traveler.

In a statement, NIS spokesman Kenneth Udo explained that the officer’s behavior, which was recorded and shared in a viral video on social media, does not align with the professional values and ethics expected of the NIS.

Udo noted that the Service became aware of the video, titled “This is how Immigration officers treat tourists in Nigeria.”

Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap strongly condemned the alleged misconduct, stating that it undermines the ongoing efforts to improve service standards.

Nandap assured the public that the officer has been suspended indefinitely while disciplinary proceedings are conducted, in compliance with the law and Public Service Rules.

She emphasized that the officer’s actions were disgraceful and do not reflect the commitment of the service to hospitality, reception, and courtesy.
