The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has assured that all candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were unsuccessful in obtaining the party’s nominations for the forthcoming local government election scheduled for September 21, will begin to receive refunds starting on Monday.

The Governor made this assurance after attending Sunday Mass at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, while addressing the state.

He clarified that only the funds spent on purchasing forms from the party will be refunded, excluding expenses made without receipts, such as those spent on consultations.

He said: “All the people that applied as aspirants to run for either councillors or chairmanship in the local government election who are not successful, your money will be refunded tomorrow (Monday).

“The ones we will not refund are the ones you gave without receipts (for consultations).”

He urged the aspirants to remain steadfast, objective, and consider the greater good of the party and the state above individual interests.

The governor further reassured the public that the election will proceed as scheduled by the Imo State Electoral Commission (ISIEC) on September 21.
