The remains of late Muhammadu Buhari is on its way to Daura, his final resting place, after a six-hour flight from London.

The body, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and some family members of the late former president, landed on the airport runway at about 1:59 pm.

The final resting place of former President Muhammadu Buhari has been prepared, as a grave was dug in a private section of his Daura residence.

The burial site is located in a garden adjacent to the main residential building of Buhari’s compound; the burial site was cordoned off and heavily guarded by security operatives.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of men, believed to be family members, dug the grave under the close watch of security officials.

Security personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed around the residence to enforce a restricted perimeter.

Journalists and members of the public were prevented from accessing the grave site.
