INEC has opened Portal for Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment Ahead of Anambra Governorship Election

 

Naijaonpoint Media reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, scheduled to hold later this year.

According to the Commission, the recruitment exercise is aimed at ensuring a transparent, credible, and efficient electoral process. Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their applications via the official INEC Pres Recruitment Portal (INECPRES) before the deadline.

Available Positions

INEC listed the following categories of ad-hoc staff for the election:

  1. Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs): For permanent staff on Grade Levels 10–14 from federal, state, and civil ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

  2. Presiding Officers (POs) / Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs): Open to serving corps members, ex-corps members (within four years post-service), INEC staff on GL 07–08, and permanent staff with OND or GL 07–10 qualifications from federal tertiary institutions.

  3. Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers: Typically the school or institution hosting the RAC or Super RAC.

  4. RATECHS (Registration Area Technical Support Staff): Reserved for INEC staff only.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following conditions to be considered:

  • Must not be a member of a political party.

  • Must not openly support or promote any candidate or political party.

  • Must reside in the state of assignment (except for RATECHS).

  • Mobile App: Android users can apply via the official INECPRES mobile app, available through the same portal.

The application deadline is Sunday, October 5, 2025. INEC warned applicants against using unofficial platforms, stressing that all updates will be provided through its verified channels only.

1. Who can apply as Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs)?
Serving corps members, ex-corps members (not more than four years post-service), INEC staff on GL 07–08, and permanent staff from federal tertiary institutions with OND or GL 07–10 qualifications.

2. Can political party members apply?
No. Membership of a political party automatically disqualifies an applicant.

3. Is residency in Anambra State compulsory?
