THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has relocated Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centres from four local government areas in Borno State to Maiduguri due to security and safety risks.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner Abubakar Ahmad announced the decision today during a press briefing in Maiduguri, naming the affected LGAs as Abadam, Guzamala, Kala-Balge, and Marte.
The new temporary registration points will be located within the Maiduguri metropolis, including Baga Road, the Fire Service Department at 1,000 Housing Estate, Goni Kachalari Primary School, and Kachamai.
Ahmad explained that the CVR exercise will run in three phases from August 18, 2025, to August 30, 2026.
Phase one will begin with online pre-registration on August 18, followed by physical registration starting August 25, both of which will run concurrently thereafter.
Online registration can be done at www.cvr.inec.gov.ng or www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, allowing registrants to book appointments for in-person completion at state or LGA INEC offices.
Physical registration will take place on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., excluding public holidays.
The process will cater to Nigerians aged 18 and above who have not previously registered, as well as those seeking replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, transfer of voting locations, collection of unclaimed PVCs, and updates for voters whose cards failed verification in the last election.
Ahmad assured that INEC had made provisions for persons with disabilities and urged all eligible voters in Borno to participate in the year-long exercise.
