The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) nationwide.
The resumption began on Monday following the conclusion of the earlier round of registration which ended on 10 December 2025.
INEC had initially opened the online pre-registration portal on 18 August 2025 before extending the process to physical registration centres across the country on 25 August 2025.
The commission disclosed in December that a total of 9,891,801 citizens initiated their registration online during the first phase of the exercise.
Out of this number, INEC said 2,572,054 registrations were fully completed as at 28 November 2025, with 1,503,832 done online and 1,068,222 concluded physically.
The commission explained that the break between the two phases was used to conduct statutory processes required by law, including the public display of the voters’ register.
“In accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the display of the register of voters for claims and objections was held from December 15 to 21, 2025, at local government area offices where the CVR exercise was conducted,” INEC said.
The electoral umpire encouraged eligible Nigerians to seize the opportunity to register, transfer their polling locations, or update their details.
INEC further appealed to those who registered earlier to continue to check their records, correct errors, and raise concerns about any ineligible or deceased names on the register.
The commission, however, confirmed that CVR activities remain suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral processes.
INEC added that fresh dates for resumption of registration in the affected locations will be announced in due course.
