The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come out to say, it will not conduct a bye-election into the Ahoada East Constituency Two, because the seat is presently occupied by Rt. Honourable Ehie Edison.

Recall that Edison Ehie, a former Deputy Speaker of the House, had at the wake of the recent Rivers political crisis, resigned his position as the Leader and member of the State Assembly.

However, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Gabriel Yomere while speaking to Super 93.3 FM said the Commission did not accept the resignation of Edison Ehie. He also added that the State House of Assembly did not equally accept the resignation.

Gabriel Yomere further disclosed that the only State Constituency, where INEC may likely conduct a bye-election before the end of this year is in Khana Constituency Two, which was previously occupied by the Late Dinebary Loloo.

He also assured that INEC would treat every political party equally.

“There will be no preferential treatment to any political parties, ” he declared.
