Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has suspended his aide, Sa’idu Enagi.
Naijaonpoint reports that Enagi was suspended following the publication of an article titled “Malagi 2027,” which speculated on the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
The Minister’s office said Idris had no involvement in the article and did not approve its release.
The statement clarified that the Minister’s focus remains on his duties at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, and he has no plans for political activity in Niger State.
An immediate investigation has been launched to determine how the article was published.
The office also stressed that Idris maintains a good working relationship with the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and described any suggestion of political ambitions as unhelpful to ongoing development efforts in the state.
In other news, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims that governors wield overwhelming influence over the ruling party, insisting that no single individual or group controls the APC.
Yilwatda made the clarification while featuring on Sunset, a political programme aired on Jay FM in Jos, Plateau State.
According to the APC chairman, the party operates a clearly defined structure in which major decisions are taken at the national level rather than by state chapters or governors.
