Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, has issued a stern warning to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the continued detention of activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.
Effiong, in a post shared on his X handle, expressed concern for Sowore’s safety and cautioned the police chief against any harm befalling him.
“Nothing should happen to @YeleSowore,” he wrote, adding that “this lawless IGP should be careful, his atrocities have gotten worse. He should know that he is not above the laws of this country.”
Effiong’s statement comes amid growing concerns over Sowore’s treatment in custody, with several activists and civil society groups calling for his immediate release and respect for his rights.
