Former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has issued a sharp warning to the Federal Government, calling for an immediate and thorough investigation into the country’s worsening insecurity.
He raised the alarm following a spate of mass kidnappings and bandit attacks in the country.
Kwankwaso expressed deep concern over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
He described the attack — in which gunmen on motorcycles exchanged fire with security agents — as deeply disturbing.
He also condemned the killing of Brigadier-General Musa Uba in Borno State, calling it a “dark mark” on Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts.
According to Kwankwaso, this tragedy highlights severe security and intelligence failures at the federal level.
The former governor highlighted recent mass kidnappings in Zamfara State, describing the situation as “truly heartbreaking.” He urged urgent action to rescue those held captive.
In Kano State, he pointed to bandit raids in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, where three villagers were killed and two nursing mothers abducted, to illustrate a pattern of repeated violence.
Kwankwaso praised Kano’s state government for donating vehicles to security agencies but argued this is not enough.
He demanded a more robust national response: calling for stronger support for the armed forces and greater empowerment of the Nigeria Police Force to protect citizens and restore public confidence.
