Meta-owned social media app Instagram will soon allow you to reset your recommendations. The company on Tuesday announced that it is testing the ability for its users to reset their content recommendations. This will allow the users to start fresh with the kind of content they view on Instagram.

The upcoming option to reset recommendations on the Instagram platform will allow you to do it. Meta said that it is testing a way for users to reset the content recommendations they see in various areas. These include Explore, Reels, and Feed.

Instagram utilizes some algorithms to provide users with content recommendations. The company has used the same tools to make this new feature. For example, you would like one recipe video only to keep getting similar content in your Feeds. The new feature will let you remove such recommended content from these categories by starting fresh.

Once you reset your recommendations on the platform, you can personalize any content you want to see in the future. It’s worth noting that resetting recommendations will not delete any of your data from the app. This means you will continue to see the type of advertisements that you were seeing before.

Instagram frames the feature as part of its push to bring more teen safety features

Instagram’s new feature is part of its big push towards offering new safety features for teens. Meta’s post regarding the new functionality indicates that clearly. While the new feature will be available to all users, Instagram said, “We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience, so it can continue to reflect their passions and interests as they evolve”.

That said, the company didn’t provide when exactly it will roll out the new feature. The blog post just mentions that the feature will roll out globally “soon”.
