Earlier this month, Apple introduced its latest iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets. While the new iPad Air continues to utilize an LCD panel, the iPad Pro flaunts the “Tandem OLED” display technology. The company is unlikely to launch a new iPad Mini model this year. A recently leaked Apple roadmap indicated that the iPad Mini 7’s launch is pushed to 2026.

Now, a new report out of Korea from Naver corroborates the earlier leaks, apart from revealing an important feature of the device. Citing industry sources, the report claims that the iPad Mini 7 will flaunt an OLED display and launch in 2026.

Samsung reportedly began developing 8-inch OLED iPad Mini 2026 display panels

According to the source, Samsung began making samples of 8-inch screen panels for the OLED iPad Mini model last month for Apple to evaluate. This suggests that the iPad Mini 7 may offer the same 8.3-inch display size as the current-gen iPad Mini 6 model.

The report includes a quote from an industry insider who said “I understand that Samsung Display began developing samples for the OLED iPad mini last month at Apple’s request. After developing initial samples in the first half of this year, we will be able to enter the development stage for mass production within the year.”

The iPad Mini 7 may not sport the “Tandem OLED” display tech found on the new iPad Pro

The source doesn’t mention if the iPad Mini 7 will flaunt the “Tandem OLED” display tech found on the new iPad Pro. This tech utilizes two overlaid OLED panels to provide a much higher brightness. It’s unlikely that the next-gen iPad Mini model will have the “Tandem OLED” technology as it’s very expensive.

While the Cupertino tech giant could get away with an increase in price for its top-of-the-line slates, it’s unlikely to hike the price of the iPad Mini series. The current-gen iPad Mini 6 is available starting from $499 and $649 for the Wi-Fi-only and Cellular models, respectively.

Unfortunately, not many details regarding the other specifications of the iPad Mini 7 are available at the moment. We can expect the new mini slate to offer upgraded innards, but the design will remain largely unchanged from the current-gen offering. Since the launch is allegedly scheduled for 2026, there’s much more to change in the final features of the device.
