Iran has warned that it will react with greater force if targeted again by the United States or Israel, escalating rhetoric amid ongoing tensions over its nuclear programme.
Speaking on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning, suggesting that any renewed military aggression would be met with a response that could not be hidden from the world.
“If aggression is repeated, we will not hesitate to react in a more decisive manner and in a way that will be IMPOSSIBLE to cover up,” Araghchi declared in a post on X.
His remarks appeared to be a direct reply to earlier threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who, while on a visit to Scotland, claimed American airstrikes had dismantled Iran’s nuclear capabilities and warned Tehran against any restart of its atomic efforts.
“They can start again. If they do, we’ll wipe it out faster than you can wave your finger at it,” Trump said.
The rising tensions come in the aftermath of a series of U.S. strikes last month on Iranian nuclear sites, which followed a surprise aerial bombardment by Israel. Israel claimed the attacks were necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The coordinated assault disrupted ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington that had resumed in April.
Though the extent of the damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure remains unclear, Iran retaliated with missile strikes — targeting Israeli cities and a U.S. military base in Qatar. Trump, however, appeared to dismiss the Iranian response at the time.
