Iron Man's New Armor Revealed for 2026 Ahead of Brand-New Series

untitled design 6

Iron Man is entering a brand-new era in 2026 with Joshua Williamson taking over Tony Stark’s story this January with a new series, and seasoned fans know that every new run brings a fresh suit. Marvel has now revealed the first glimpse of Stark’s latest armor, and it signals big things ahead.

First announced during Marvel Comics’ “Next Big Thing” panel at New York Comic Con, the publisher revealed that Tony Stark would be getting a brand-new series written by comic all-star Joshua Williamson (Superman, G.I. Joe) with art by the talented Carmen Carnero (The Amazing Spider-Man, Exceptional X-Men).

Launching with Iron Man #1 on January 28, 2026, the series will follow Tony as he reflects on the creation of his original, life-saving Iron Man suit while he contemplates what might happen the next time he faces death, and how he would respond when mortality looms once again.

The unapologetic Iron Man is a once-in-a-lifetime hero — but the beating heart behind the armor is a once-in-a-century genius. Years ago, Tony Stark was knocking on death’s door, so he created the Iron Man armor to survive! What happens the next time death comes calling? What weapon does he create then? What if… someone else creates it first? These questions have haunted Tony for years, a ticking time bomb inside of him waiting to explode. Femme fatale Madame Masque has also asked these questions, and with the power of Advanced Idea Mechanics behind her… she’s ready to create the next great weapon.

Iron Man’s Mark 75 Suit Arrives, Ushering in a Bold New Era for 2026

Concept art by series artist Carmen Carnero has just revealed the first look at Tony Stark’s new Mark 75 Iron Man armor, and calling it perfection would be an understatement. The design stays true to the classic look of Stark’s most beloved suits while still offering something fresh, helping visually set Williamson’s Iron Man run apart from others.

When asked about the suit that will serve as the face of his series, Williamson said, “Carmen did an amazing job on the new armor. We wanted something that felt iconic. To start, we looked back at our favorite armors. My faves are Marks 4, 9, 12, 13, 15, 51, and 70. There are more, but those were the ones that hit the vibe we were going.”

He continued, “Carmen took all the pieces that we’d talked about and created an awesome new look for Iron Man and Tony. She’s been a blast to work with, and I hope people check out Iron Man #1 to see the beautiful work she’s done with Nolan Woodard!” It’s clear Williamson is thrilled with the suit that will represent his run.

When discussing Tony’s new Iron Man suit, Williamson teased that it will bring something brand-new to the character’s legacy, stating, “How this armor is different for Tony will be played out across the first year. I don’t want to give it away yet. It’s a story piece that we’ll explore. Why Tony built this armor and now.”

This statement from Williamson directly ties to the series’ central theme of Tony Stark’s genius and mortality, driving the creation of his Iron Man suits and his character-defining innovations. Based on Carnero’s design, this suit looks like it will pack a punch. Fans, however, will have to wait until Iron Man #1 to see exactly how it stands out among the rest.
