Is Ola Aina free to leave Nottingham Forest in the summer 2025 window?

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina will have his contract with the English Premier League contenders, Nottingham Forest, expire in the summer of 2025, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigeria international, who joined the Tricky Trees in 2023, renewed his contract with the club on May 21, 2024, to extend his stay at the City Ground for another year.

Meanwhile, the Reds are currently on an impressive run of form with 47 points and are nine points behind table-toppers Liverpool. With this form, Ola Aina has played a key role both at the heart of Forest’s defence and in the attack.

This season alone, Ola Aina has scored two goals and provided an assist as a defender. The goals were part of Nottingham Forest’s victories against West Ham United and Brentford FC.

This has made him a key figure in Nuno Espírito Santo’s setup and has also attracted many suitors who are ready to lure him away from the club.

But Espírito Santo remains unconcerned about this, believing there are no issues with Ola Aina’s contract despite a few months remaining.

“On Ola’s contract, no, I don’t think there’s an issue with that. They [Ola Aina, Murillo, and Chris Wood] are working very well. Things are going well. The people responsible for that part of the club are taking care of it. It helps when a player is happy. As a club, there is no issue in terms of changing. What we want is for our players to feel good. We provide the right atmosphere, and then they have to do their jobs on the pitch,” he said earlier.

Who is interested in Ola Aina?

The Super Eagles star has piqued the interest of a few clubs looking to bolster their squad with the signature of the former Torino FC player.

As of January 2025, Ola Aina was linked with a move to join Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray. He was also seen as a perfect replacement for Kyle Walker, who left Manchester City for AC Milan, and was linked with AS Roma, who reportedly contacted Ola Aina’s representatives over a deal.
