The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has reportedly executed two individuals accused of being spies loyal to the Nigerian Army.
Naijaonpoint reports that this brings the total number of executions carried out by the terror group in recent days to nine.
The spike in executions is suspected to be a preemptive measure to eliminate “moles” ahead of a rumored upcoming joint US-Nigeria offensive against the terror group.
“ISWAP executed another two spies loyal to the Nigerian army yesterday, one of them was captured in his house in Dekwa, Yobe, and another near Gubio, Borno state, the terrorists also took his car. ISWAP carried out nine executions in recent days, very likely in preparation for the upcoming joint US-Nigeria offensive against them, the group is trying to take out all the moles,” Brant Philip, a security expert, disclosed.
In a separate operation, ISWAP militants reportedly raided three houses belonging to a Nigerian police officer, Officer-in-Charge Mohammed Modu, in Tetiba, Yobe State.
The terrorists, reportedly acting on intelligence from local informants, set all three houses ablaze.
The militants also stole motorcycles and vehicles belonging to the officer.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported during the raid.
In a post on 𝕏, Brant Philip wrote: “ISWAP raided three houses yesterday in Tetiba, Yobe State, all belonging to Nigerian police Officer-in-Charge Mohammed Modu, the terrorists acted on intelligence from local informants, all three houses were set ablaze and motorcycles and vehicles were captured by the militants, no casualties reported.”
