The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its acting National Chairman, Nafiu Bala, has outlined conditions to accept the leadership of former Senate President, David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.
Naijaonpoint recalls that the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governors Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, along with other opposition politicians, had adopted the ADC as the coalition party to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Following the adoption of ADC, Mark was elected as the Interim National Chairman of the party, while Aregbesola was named the Interim National Secretary.
Displeased by this action, the Gombe faction of ADC had instituted a legal action against the coalition.
However, the Special Adviser on Strategic Communication to Bala, Abimiku Monday, while featuring on Arise Television’s programme, ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday, said Mark and Aregbesola can only be accepted if they follow the legal process of joining ADC.
According to Monday, there is still room for alignment with the Mark-led leadership, stressing they will not accept any attempt to hijack the party structure.
He said: “If they follow the legal procedures of joining the party through the electoral wards by identifying with the actual existing structure of Nafiu Bala Gombe, then we would definitely accept whatever discussion they want us to have.
“But other than that, it is an aberration, It’s an attempt to hijack the structure and we will not allow that.
“So if they present themselves, of course it is politics and in politics there’s room for interaction, there should be room for alignment and realignment, there should be room for disagreement and agreement.
“So we disagree to agree, we are not insisting or saying that we do not welcome them, but as far as they follow all the legal processes, looking at the constitution of the party and all the necessary processes and procedures laid down by the constitution of the party, we will welcome them in and work together.”
