Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has stated that the decision of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to seek a political platform to pursue his presidential bid is not a crime.

Naijaonpoint reports that Lamido, while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, stated that politicians have been switching parties over the past 20 years.

Lamido hinted that Atiku will run for the presidency, and he might not have found a platform that offers him fairness and openness in the process of picking the presidential ticket.

The former Governor emphasised that Atiku is at liberty to look for another platform.

He said,  “There are people whose personal aspirations is to run for political office, it’s different being PDP, APC, or any other platform.

“It happened in 2014 when a number of people left the PDP to APC as a platform.

“I think Atiku wants to run for the presidency and he has not seen the fairness and openness to sincerely pick the ticket, otherwise he looks for another platform.

“Looking for another platform is not a crime, in the last 20 years, people have been jumping looking for platforms.

“For instance, Ortom left the party in 2014 and ran under APC, Ortom was PDP Minister, NEC member, and he left the party because he couldn’t get the platform.

“There are people who are pursuing a platform and are different from being members of the party.”

Recall that Atiku recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and there are speculations that the former Vice President may run for the presidency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
