It Was Crazy – Adekunle Gold Speaks On The Last Time He Cried

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has revealed a personal experience that brought tears to his eyes.

Naijaonpoint reports that the Many People crooner revealed in a podcast that the last time he cried was a few months ago while walking down the street.

The emotional moment came when he watched his daughter, Deja, perform for the first time via a video call.

The singer described the overwhelming mix of pride and longing he felt, realizing he could not be there in person to witness his daughter’s milestone.

The experience made him reflect on the sacrifices involved in building a successful career while also caring for his family.

Adekunle Gold explained that these emotions inspired his song “My Love is the Same”.

He said: “When was the last time I cried? That was the last time I cried. Like two, three months ago. Do you remember what it was about? Oh yeah, Deja was performing and I wasn’t there, so they called me on video. So they called, showed me, and it was her first performance.

“I’m like, nah, this is crazy. It’s like the price you have to pay for building and doing this thing that you have to do, and also, of course, looking after your family. Yeah, that’s one of the reasons I wrote ‘My Love is the Same.’ I wouldn’t know what people go through. It’s crazy. Throwing it down, being confident, I’m like, oh damn, I wish I was there. Yeah, I started to cry.”
