United States President Donald Trump has warned that the US could launch additional military strikes in Nigeria if attacks on Christians continue.

Naijaonpoint reports that he revealed this in an interview with New York Times.

His comments follows a US military operation on Christmas Day targeting Islamic State militants in northwest Nigeria, reportedly conducted at the request of the Nigerian government.

Trump indicated that while he hopes the strike would be a one-time action, further operations could follow if violence against Christians persists.

I’d love to make it a one-time strike,” Trump said. “But if they continue to kill Christians, it will be a many-time strike.”

He also acknowledged that Muslims have been victims of attacks but maintained that Christians are the primary targets.

“I think that Muslims are being killed also in Nigeria,” he said. “But it’s mostly Christians.”

This follows Trump’s repeated statements over recent months, in which he described the situation of Christians in Nigeria as urgent and suggested that the US could intervene militarily if the Nigerian authorities fail to protect them.

In other news, Hip‑hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ bid for a presidential pardon has hit a wall.

Naijaonpoint learnt that the 56‑year‑old music executive, currently serving a multi‑year prison sentence on prostitution‑related convictions, reportedly wrote to US President Donald Trump seeking clemency, but the president has made it clear he has no plans to grant the request.

According to President Trump, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Combs sent him a written appeal for a pardon after his conviction.
