Media personality Noble Igwe has weighed in on renaming legendary singer Charly Boy’s bus stop to Olamide’s bus stop.
Kemi Filani reported that the Bariga Local Council Development Area had renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos after Indigenous rapper and music executive Olamide. The Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Kolade Alabi David, announced this during the inauguration of some infrastructural projects in the LCDA on Friday, July 25th. He stated that following the renaming of Ajidagan Street to Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street, Charly Boy Bus Stop will now be called Baddo Bus Stop.
Reacting to the news, Noble Igwe noted how Charly Boy isn’t an ordinary figure and has earned his place in the history books. He said people don’t have to like him, but renaming a busy shop wouldn’t erase his legacy.
“Charley Boy isn’t just an ordinary figure; he’s earned his place in the history books.
You don’t have to like him, but renaming a bus stop won’t erase his legacy”.
Recall that during the 2023 General election, Charly Boy was vocal about his disdain for APC and PDP. In an Instagram post, he vowed to relocate to Ghana and beg for citizenship if Atiku or Tinubu ended up being the President of Nigeria.
In another post, the Area Fada had vowed to walk naked on the streets of Lagos if Peter Obi emerged victorious at the election tribunal.
In other news, Charly had reacted to clergyman, Pastor Adeboye’s apology on Tithe. He stated that the clergyman’s apology didn’t mean shit unless he promised to return the tithe money. The legendary singer added that sometimes the nicest people one meets may have bodies covered with tattoos, while the ones who go to church on Sundays are the most bitter, judgmental, envious, and wicked.
