Super Eagles and new Crawley Town defender, Benjamin Tanimu, has expressed his delight at the opportunity to join the Sky Bet League One side, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old centre-back moved abroad from the Nigeria Professional Football League just over a year ago, ditching Bendel Insurance for Tanzanian side, Ihefu Sports Club.

He’s now joined third-tier English side, Crawley Town, and has set sights on the journey up with the Red Devils as they look to gain promotion to the EFL Championships.

“I’m thrilled to be here. Growing up in Nigeria, we all watched the English Premier League, so coming to England is a huge step for me. I’m very happy to join Crawley Town. Coming to England is a great opportunity for me to showcase my abilities,” he continued. “I’m also here to help Crawley Town reach the highest level of English football. I was surprised to be coming to England. I had offers from several African countries, but when I heard about Crawley’s interest, I thought, ‘Why not?’ So I jumped at the chance. I’m a player who is always ready to learn, and work hard to improve, and I love winning,” the former Bendel Insurance man said in an interview posted on the club’s social media page.

The young defender has three senior appearances for the Nigerian national team under his belt, and will be hoping his move abroad will earn him more minutes in the green and white colours of the Super Eagles.
