“It’s a total waste of time shedding tears over a loved one” – Rita Edochie bids final goodbye to late actress Nkechi Nweje as she shares clips from her funeral

Kemi Filani reported last month that the movie star died after a brief illness.

On Friday, May 23rd, 2025, Nkechi was finally laid to tears in Onitsha, Anambra State.

In a lengthy post on her Instagram page, Rita admonished people not to die as she noted how life would go on without them. The veteran actress said she is beginning to understand that it is a total waste shedding tears over a loved one.

Telling herself to accept the hard truth, Rita expressed how much she would miss her late friend and stated that she is comforted in the belief of God’s worth of seeing her again on resurrection morning.

“4 this life eh, no die oo. Just keep pushing because if you die, life goes on.

Clearly, shedding tears is only a reaction to the feelings of losing a loved one, but it can’t restore the lost life. I am beginning to understand that it’s a total waste of time.
Is it not better I accept the hard truth? Oh no

Nkechi, Omalicha Nwanne M the ever dearest beauty to behold.
I will definitely miss you, but I am well comforted by God’s word that promises me to see you again on resurrection morning.
Seeing you lifeless in that casket made me understand that you are no longer here with us mana ya di ba nnem.

Also, mourning Nweje, Ngozi Ezeonu revealed that she never knew Nkechi was sick. She expressed sadness at never seeing her smiling face again as she noted how Nweje was one of the nicest people she even met. Calling her death a big blow, she bade her farewell.
