Former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has defended his position following the allegation from many Nigerians that he often defended government policies and actions by lying.
Speaking during an interview with AIT ahead of the unveiling of a new book which chronicles his experiences in office during the administration of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, Mohammed said those accusing him of being a liar would find it difficult to fault his logic or facts.
According to him, his duty was to supply facts and context, not to distort the truth.
He added that while many people may not agree with his submission, his duty as a Minister of Information goes beyond loyalty to the President and must consider national security and cohesion.
“You may not agree with my position, but it is difficult to fault my logic or my facts.
“Many accuse me simply because I was loyal to the president. As Minister of Information, you must consider national security and national cohesion.” he said
