‘It’s Fake News’ – IBB’s son denies rejecting Tinubu’s BOA appointment

Muhammad Babangida

Muhammed Babangida, the son of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, IBB,  has formally accepted his appointment as chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

In a statement issued on Monday, Babangida firmly denied online reports suggesting he had turned down the appointment, describing them as “false and malicious.”

He said the rumours were a calculated attempt to mislead the public and undermine the President Bola Tinubu administration.

“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement partly read.

The release also pledged that those responsible for spreading the misinformation would be identified and prosecuted.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.

Muhammed Babangida’s appointment is one of several strategic positions recently approved by President Tinubu to bolster leadership in critical government institutions.
