The APC chairmanship aspirant in Emuoha Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, has applauded the conduct of the local government elections in the area, describing the process as peaceful, seamless, and rancor-free.

Lloyd, who voted at Ward 10, Unit 09 in Omodioga/Akpabu/Itu, said the exercise reflected a new political culture in Rivers State.

He stressed that Rivers politics was moving away from “winner-takes-all,” with strong candidates from different parties now competing fairly.

Lloyd also called for reforms to strengthen the process, particularly electronic voting.

On logistical challenges, he pointed out that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISEC) still relies on the National Union of Road Transport Workers for vehicles, which sometimes delays material distribution. However, he praised the noticeable improvement in ad-hoc staff recruitment and reduced cases of result mutilation.

Voters at Ward 10, Unit 09 also expressed satisfaction with the process.
