Isaac Fayose, the brother to former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has reacted to former vice president, Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Naijaonpoint reports that in a video shared on his Instagram page, Fayose described Atiku’s exit as a huge relief for the party.
He said that he had personally wished to see the former presidential candidate suspended from the PDP for years.
He mocked Atiku for quitting the party for the third time in 20 years, describing it as a clear sign of desperation.
He urged Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, to consider returning to the PDP.
Fayose said the party should zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South so a strong contender can face President Bola Tinubu in the next election.
He said in the video: “I’ve been trying to suspend him for years. He no go Finally, Baba don go. Third time in 20 years. This is what they call desperation. This is what they call desperado. But for PDP, the biggest party in Africa, it’s a welcome development. So, the Southerners, will not have someone dragging their slots with them. It’s a good news.The party will get peace now. Third time going and coming. Baba finally don go. We hope he no come back this time, Mr. Atiku. So, you can allow the party to be proper opposition. I hope obi can come back Let PDP zone their ticket to south so someone can stand against Tinubu in 2027.”
