Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi was included in Troy Deeney’s BBC Matchday Five Team of the Week after a brilliant performance in his side’s 3-1 win over Brentford, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 29-year-old scored a volley to put Fulham back on level terms after an error from 18-year-old Josh King had allowed Mikkel Damsgaard to open the scoring at Craven Cottage.
Two minutes later, Iwobi produced a brilliant lay-off for Harry Wilson to score Fulham’s second goal of the game, which eventually ensured the second win of the season for Marco Silva’s side.
Deeney, who was famously known as a Watford striker before he hung up his boots, took up punditry with the BBC and is now tasked with picking the BBC Team of the Week.

In goal, the former Watford striker opted for Burnley’s Martin Dubravka. The Slovakian goalkeeper made seven saves to keep Scott Parker’s side in the game and secure a point against Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor.
Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams has been playing at right back for Ange Postecoglou’s side since Ola Aina’s hamstring injury, and he secures his spot in Deeney’s team after breaking the deadlock for the Reds against Burnley.
Deeney’s centre-back pairing includes AFC Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi and Newcastle United’s Sven Botman. The duo played against each other at the Vitality Stadium over the weekend, cancelling each other out in a goalless draw.
Crystal Palace’s wing-back, Tyrick Mitchell, takes up the left-back spot after scoring a volley in the Eagles’ 2-1 win against West Ham United.
Deeney opted for a midfield trio. Leeds United’s Anton Stach scored a brilliant free-kick against Tolu Arokodare’s Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Peacocks secured a 3-1 win at the Molineux.

Alex Iwobi joins Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch to complete the midfield. Gravenberch broke the deadlock at Anfield in the Merseyside derby and set up Hugo Ekitike’s goal for Liverpool’s second.
Iwobi, on the other hand, put in a brilliant shift, scoring a goal and providing an assist in Fulham’s 3-1 win over Brentford.
“Great goal and great assist in their win over Brentford. I love Alex’s approach to football,” the former Birmingham City forward wrote about the Super Eagles star in his column for BBC.
“You know you’re going to get a 7.5 or eight out of 10 every single week – effort and endeavour.
“His goal was a wonderful finish, on the half-volley through the defender’s legs, and the weight of pass on his assist for Harry Wilson’s goal was fantastic.
“If that pass was too hard Wilson would have had to take a touch and the chance was gone,” Deeney concluded.
In the number ten role, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes claims a spot after scoring his 100th goal for the club in their 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Fernandes is placed behind two strikers – Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor and Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike.
Isidor scored Sunderland’s only goal against Aston Villa at the Stadium of light after they went down to ten men early in the first half, courtesy of a Reinildo red card.
Hugo Ekitike, on the other hand, scored his third Premier League goal of the season in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Everton, joining his teammate, Ryan Gravenberch in Deeney’s Team of the Week.
