Alex Iwobi put up a standout performance in London derby, but it was not enough to prevent Fulham from collapsing late under sustained Chelsea pressure, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian midfielder gave Fulham a first-half lead at Craven Cottage, only for the visitors to hit back twice in the closing stages to steal all three points.

Iwobi, who has now scored 9 league goals this season, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a crisp left-footed finish from the centre of the box. The goal was set up by Ryan Sessegnon, who slipped in a clever ball to Iwobi after a strong run down the left.

Calvin Bassey also featured in Fulham’s starting lineup, partnering Issa Diop in central defence. The Super Eagles defender had a solid first half but struggled to contain Chelsea’s attacking pressure as the second half wore on.

Chelsea, trailing for most of the match, looked short on ideas in the final third until the introduction of Tyrique George, who made a real impact off the bench.

The 19-year-old midfielder scored his first senior Premier League goal in the 79th minute with a stunning right-footed effort from outside the box. It was a much-needed breakthrough for Chelsea, who had been growing in confidence and possession.

The late drama did not end there. In the third minute of added time, Pedro Neto connected with an assist from Enzo Fernandez to fire home the winner. The goal completed a dramatic turnaround and left Fulham players stunned at the final whistle.

Despite the defeat, Iwobi’s performance stood out. He completed 73% of his passes and was constantly involved in Fulham’s build-up play until he was subbed off for Adama Traore in the 84th minute.

For Chelsea, the win keeps them firmly in the race for Champions League qualification. They now sit fifth on the log, just inside the qualification spots, following this much-needed win. Fulham, meanwhile, remain mid-table but will be frustrated to have let a winning position slip at home.
