I just got me a little apartment. You know, something smooth that’ll last me for the time being.” That practical approach extended beyond just housing. Rather than planting roots in Philly, he spent most of his offseasons back home in Houston with his mom. So, it made even less sense to buy property near his team’s headquarters—at least back then. Fast forward a few years, and Hurts still calls that New Jersey apartment home during the regular season. But with a high-profile fiancée, Bry Burrows, in the picture, a real estate upgrade in the Philadelphia area might be on the horizon. Of course, that doesn’t mean Hurts is living small. He reportedly owns a $6 million mansion in Texas, where he spends his offseasons, and even snagged the property next door for an additional $2.5 million. Not stopping there, he’s also bought homes for both his mother and father. According to Realtor.com, Hurts’ real estate portfolio now sits at a cool $9.4 million. But if you think that means he’s spending recklessly, think again. Hurts has always been vocal about smart financial planning. “There are a ton of ways you can save money and be smart about your money,” he told AL.com in 2021. His strategies? Simple but effective. Instead of splurging on a brand-new car that loses value the moment it leaves the lot, he suggested buying used or leasing. Fancy restaurants? Not necessary—cooking at home (or grabbing extra to-go plates from the team facility, as he proudly admitted) does the trick. Even his phone plan was budget-conscious, opting for Straight Talk to save cash while still using major networks. And instead of hiring an expensive landscaping company, Hurts had a more community-driven idea: “You can hire a local kid from the community to come cut your grass like I used to do.” Despite his massive contract extension that keeps him with the Eagles through 2028, Hurts’ spending priorities remain the same.
