Janet Hubert, the actress who played the original “Aunt Viv” in the popular 90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, is opening up about her longtime feud with Will Smith.
Hubert was forced out of the show following her fallout with the star and has spoken previously about being blackballed by Smith.
“Thirty years of my life was gone. 30 years of a career was gone. House was gone. Money was gone. I lost my mind, too,” Hubert told daytime talk show host Sherri Shepherd.
Hubert was suffering from postpartum at the time of her exit and lost a lot of weight… 70lbs.
“People ask me, ‘Well, how do you get past that? How do you forgive someone?’ You have to forgive someone to release yourself and I want to once and for all squash it with people bringing it up constantly and constantly saying, ‘Well, I wouldn’t I don’t know if I could have forgiven him for that. And I’m like, ‘But you’re not me,”” she shared.
Hubert and Smith reconciled during The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special in 2020.
“I made a horrible error and misjudgment of her value and power and beauty to the show,” Smith said last year. “I horribly underestimated what she was for me at that point in my life.”
