Janice Combs, the mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has broken her silence, addressing some of the worst stories in 50 Cent’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning series, which aired on Netflix last week.
In one of the episodes, Janice claims the four-part project is filled with “lies” and “inaccuracies” about her son.
In a statement to Deadline, she rejected an allegation from former Combs associate Kirk Burrowes, who said he witnessed Sean slap her following the 1991 City College tragedy that left nine people dead.
Janice called the claim “patently false,” accusing Burrowes of exploiting a devastating day to revive what she described as his failed bid for influence at Bad Boy Records. She urged the filmmakers to retract what she called misleading and harmful statements about her family.
“That was a very sad day for all of us … For him to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his — Bad Boy Records — is wrong, outrageous and past offensive,” her statement reads in part, later adding, “I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements be publicly retracted.”
In the doc, Burrowes also claimed he saw Diddy put his hands on his mother.
“I saw Janice question Sean [about his future]. He’s going into this music business thing. He just left school, and now this extreme tragedy has occurred. She’s like, ‘Did he make the right decision?’ And I saw him put his hands on her. Call her a b—h and slapped her,” he said.
