Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her failed marriage to Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, but she’s surprisingly upbeat about it all.
J. Lo and Ben got engaged in November 2002 but called off the engagement in September 2003, before separating in January 2004. The couple got back together in April 2021 and became engaged in April 2022, before eloping in Las Vegas in July of that year.
By August 2024, they had separated.
“It was tough. It was a really tough time,” she said on CNS Sunday Morning. “It was hard not to think about stuff. It was the best and the worst of times, in a way.”
She continued, “Honestly, I have to say it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me… it helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow. Become more self-aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year.”
She then spoke about her time this summer, which was her first summer as a single woman following her divorce.
“I had so much fun. I’m able to enjoy things more. The joy is in living and these moments and really embracing life,” she said. “The hard times are the lessons, and once you understand that, everything becomes a little lighter and you can really, really fly.”
