As Clint Barton is one of the remaining original Avengers members in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been a lot of questions about whether Hawkeye will even be in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. With only a handful of upcoming MCU movies and TV shows for Phase 6, the end of The Multiverse Saga is almost here.
During a new interview with Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, the MCU veteran was asked if he is in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, Jeremy Renner flat-out said, “No. No,” which led to one of the hosts asking if he was worried that they would just replace him with a Hawkeye Variant through the multiverse.
But that didn’t seem like a concern to Renner, as he laughed while stating, “If they want to do that [replace him with a Hawkeye Variant,] they can go ahead by all means and do that [Laughs].” He concluded his answer by sharing that “I’m pretty busy myself.”
Anthony and Joe Russo, who are back for both films, finished work with the Avengers: Doomsday cast on September 19, 2025. The initial line-up of characters was revealed during a surprise live-stream from Marvel Studios on March 26, 2025, which included several returning X-Men actors from the Fox-Marvel era.
However, despite Renner’s denial, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed during CinemaCon, on April 3, 2025, that more Avengers: Doomsday casting news is still slated to be released. Whether or not the Hawkeye actor is telling the truth or playing coy remains to be seen, as many MCU stars are known for having to deny their involvement in interviews due to NDAs.
Given how the Avengers: Secret Wars cast has also not been fully unveiled yet, there is still a possibility that Clint will be one of the members who gets announced ahead of filming. At the time of this story’s publication, it’s not known when principal photography is set to begin on the Phase 6 finale.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for December 17, 2027.
