A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan, on Domestic Matters and Social Events, Dr. Waripamo-owei Dudafa, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naijaonpoint reports that Dudafa, who once served as Commissioner in Bayelsa State and was the youngest member of the state House of Assembly at the time, confirmed his decision in a statement issued to journalists in Yenagoa on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP, Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8, Kolokuma/Opukuma Local Government Area, the former aide said his departure came after “deep reflection and consultation” with family, political associates, and supporters.

“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately,” the letter read.

Dudafa cited protracted internal wrangling within the PDP as the major reason behind his exit.

He explained, “The prolonged and unresolved disputes, particularly at the national level, have significantly impeded our ability to move forward and have created an environment of conflict that I believe is no longer conducive to advancing the shared values and objectives we hold dear.”

While acknowledging his past contributions, he stressed his continued commitment to the people: “While this decision is difficult, I remain committed to serving the best interests of our people, motivated by my dedication to their welfare and progress.”

The politician, widely regarded as a political protégé of former President Jonathan, announced that he had joined the APC, which he described as a platform of renewed opportunity.

“After careful reflection and consideration, I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a platform I believe offers renewed hope, unity and stronger foundation to tackle the challenges facing our dear state. I look forward to working with new colleagues who share this vision,” he declared.
