The mother of slain Chicago rapper FBG Duck says a judge has cleared the way for her wrongful death lawsuit to move forward against Lil Durk and several corporate defendants. On Tuesday, January 13, Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, shared the update on Instagram after more than a year of legal back and forth.
“A step forward,” Weekly wrote. “The ruling is in and my son gets his day in court. The court ruled that we can continue our lawsuit against Lil Durk and the record labels. Our fight continues.”

Weekly initially filed the lawsuit in October 2023, naming Lil Durk, the estate of King Von, multiple record labels, the City of Chicago, and several other parties. The suit alleges that those connected to Durk and Von knowingly promoted a violent image tied to real-world beef, despite being aware of an alleged vendetta against Duck.
The complaint also raised claims against Dolce & Gabbana, arguing the Gold Coast store where Duck was killed lacked adequate security. Weekly later reached a confidential settlement with the fashion house.
Duck was fatally shot in August 2020, and six men were later convicted for the killing. Neither Durk nor Von was charged in the criminal case, but Weekly has remained firm in pursuing civil accountability, saying the ruling brings her one step closer to justice for her son.
