A Rivers State family court sitting in Port Harcourt has fixed 27th of November, 2025 to deliver rulling on bail application for KINGSLEY NNANNA-OBILOR who is accused of defiling his three years old daughter.
NNANNA-OBILOR however pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of defilement and his counsel J.U UGWU subsequently applied for bail of his client sighting ill health and other circumstances.
Responding to the bail application, Chief prosecution counsel, PRECIOUS ORDI from Rivers State Ministry of Justice opposed to the bail of the accused with reference to the nature of offence and threat to the life of his client over the arrest and detention of the suspect.
The trial judge, justice BEN WHYTE after listening to the arguments, adjourned to 27th of November, 2025 for ruling on the bail and continuation of trial, a decision which was taken after the wife of the accused and the mother of the three year old victim told the court that her husband was responsible for the crime.
Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, the Director of the Good Samaritan Foundation for Social Welfare, ESEOGENEN ABOZE, explained how their organization were contacted about the matter and how they intervene to ensure the arrest and trial of the accused.
ABOZE who doubles as the Child and Gender Officer with Civil Society Organizations emphasized on the need for national Assembly to expedite actions towards passage of further bills for defilement and rape to include death sentence to serve as deterrent to offenders.
