A judge has denied Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request to delay his upcoming trial by two months to allow his legal team time to prepare.

The disgraced music mogul’s trial is set to begin on May 5, despite Diddy’s legal team claiming that they needed more time to build a solid defense, as the prosecution took too long to hand over critical evidence after he was hit with a superseding indictment filed earlier this month.

“Under these circumstances, with discovery seemingly incomplete on a 15-year mandatory minimum count, we cannot, in good conscience, go to trial on the scheduled date,” Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, wrote. “This is a problem that the government has created, yet it opposes our reasonable request.”

“It is unclear why there isn’t sufficient time to prepare,” Judge Arun Subramanian said in court.

Diddy is facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges and has pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts, including allegations of using his business empire to exploit women over two decades.

Diddy remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
