Vin Diesel just scored a major legal win in Los Angeles after a judge tossed out the sexual battery lawsuit brought by a former assistant who accused him of assaulting her more than a decade ago.
Asta Jonasson, who briefly worked with Diesel during the 2010 filming of Fast Five in Atlanta, claimed the actor assaulted her inside a hotel room and later retaliated against her.
Her lawsuit, filed in December 2023, included 10 claims and also named Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, along with its president and his sister, Samantha Vincent.
Judge Daniel M. Crowley rejected the case on jurisdictional grounds, explaining that California was not the proper venue to hear allegations arising from an incident said to have occurred in Georgia.
He described Jonasson’s legal basis as inconsistent with state law and concluded that none of her claims could be pursued under California statutes.
Diesel’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, said the actor is grateful that the court ended what he called a baseless lawsuit. Jonasson’s attorney argued the ruling was purely technical and insisted it had nothing to do with the truth of her allegations, adding that they are weighing their next steps.
