A former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has appealed to the leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, Kemi Badenoch to “bring back” her name Kemi to Nigeria.
Sani, a lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the Eighth National Assembly made the appeal after Badenoch announced that she no longer identifies as a Nigerian.
Badenoch has consistently criticised Nigeria, the people, government and institutions of the country including the police.
One of her outbursts includes her claim that she has been unable to secure Nigerian citizenship for her children despite being a Nigerian herself.
Her claim, however, appears to be false as the Nigerian Constitution allows every child born to a Nigerian parent automatic citizenship.
In her recent claim where the British Conservative leader denounced Nigeria as her country, the lawmaker has urged her to return everything which belongs to Nigeria including her name, Kemi.
According to Sani, the British Conservative leader is free to change her name to ‘Kimberly’ or Kim Kardashian.
Her words, “Your name is still ‘Kemi’ and you don’t want to identify as Nigerian, that’s ok. Just bring back our name. You can change to ‘Kimberly’ or Kim Kardashian.”
