The federal government has introduced mandatory drug testing as a new prerequisite for employment into the public service.
The directive was communicated to permanent secretaries and heads of extra-ministerial departments and parastatals in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the new requirement forms part of sustained efforts by the Federal Government of Nigeria to curb the growing menace of illicit drug use and its adverse effects on national development and security.
