Some suspected gunmen have kidnapped David Wada, a traditional leader in Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state.

Wada, who currently serves as the district head of the community was kidnapped on Monday evening, sources privy to the incident said.

The sources said that Wada was returning after attending a council meeting at the LGA headquarters in Abejukolo when he was kidnapped at gunpoint.

While his abductors are yet to initiate any form of contact with his family, friends or subjects, the Chairman of Omala Traditional Council and Onu Ife, Boniface Musa has confirmed Wada’s abduction.

Musa further pleaded with security agencies and their operatives in the state to ensure the traditional leader’s safe rescue.

Reacting to the incident, William Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi state police command said officers have been deployed for his rescue.

Aya also stated that the operatives are working with local hunters and vigilante members to secure the traditional leader’s release.
