He said, “The election held yesterday across the state went off without a hitch; it was free and fair, and the returning officers have submitted all the results from the field.

“From the results, the All Progressives Congress won all 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship positions,” he said.

He informed that five of the eight political parties that submitted lists of candidates participated in the polls.

He gave the names of the parties that participated in the Saturday election as the APC, Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, and All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in the state, who’s also the chairman of the Labour Party, Benue State chapter, Ibrahim Idoko, commended the commission for conducting free and fair polls.

He said the governor, Hyacinth Alia, provided a level playing field for all political parties in the election.

He however said the Labour Party will review the outcome of the election and make its submission known at a date to be communicated.
