Bandits have kidnapped Hon. David Ali Gwantu, a serving councillor in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Gwantu, who represents Gwantu Ward, was abducted shortly after midnight on Friday at his residence in Gwantu town.

Sources told Sahara Reporters that the assailants stormed his home in the state and whisked him away in the presence of his family members.

The abduction comes days after seven victims, mostly minors, were buried in Unguwan Rimi village, Kauru Local Government Area, following a deadly attack in Southern Kaduna last week.

Despite the state government’s ongoing peace pact with notorious bandit leaders under the “Kaduna Model” initiative, communities in Southern Kaduna continue to suffer attacks.

Governor Uba Sani has defended the controversial peace deal as a “carrot-and-stick” strategy, even as critics raise concerns about transparency and justice for victims.
